11 Weeks

Posted on July 30, 2007 01:11 by Sharla

Not much new to report this week - still feeling better than during the early part of the first trimester, and I even stopped taking the B6.  I've only had a few isolated instances of nausea, but nothing like before!  The only current bothersome symptoms are digestive system related and my clothes getting tighter & tighter....

This was a really busy week in general with a big 3 day meeting at work with our entire national sales team, Alan & Stephanie moving into their new house (CONGRATS!!), and Amy & Joel coming to visit and several of us going to see The Lion King musical.  It took a toll on my energy level, and by Sunday, I took  a nap for about 4 or 5 hours to catch up!  The coming weeks should be a bit less intense :)

I wore my first "true" maternity clothing this week also.  On Friday, my manager said we could wear jeans to the meeting, and I'm really struggling to fit in my old jeans (even with the rubber band trick).  So I decided to be comfy in the maternity jeans, because no one can tell with a long shirt.  It definitely felt odd to wear pants that didn't button or zip, and I felt a little silly wearing them this early on - but comfort is most important!

Most all of our family and friends know about Baby Teeny now - it's great being "public."  I also told my manager on Friday, so all that's left is the people I work with - not quite sure how or when I will tell them, but it's not much of a secret now that my manager knows.

The Word is Out...

We told our family early this week by meeting up with each of them and giving them flip books with the ultrasound pictures.  It was funny to watch their reactions as they realized what the flip book was telling them!

Here's a copy of the flip book pages:

10 Weeks

It's been a fabulous week!  The pregnancy is moving along great - no more nausea and not too tired, and even the trips to the bathroom to pee have dwindled down!

Baby Teeny took another trip this week (this is a well traveled little person!) - we went to Virginia Beach to stay with my friend Christy at her family's beach house along with Amber, Shawn, and Wendy.  It was a ton of fun, and since all the girls knew, I was able to be "public" for the first time and wore some cute tops that looked quite maternity (even though they weren't - they were regular tanks with roomy tummy areas!!). It was comfy not feeling conscious of my newly tight clothes and baby bump.  Although I did miss out on the mojitos and margaritas :(

We're planning to tell the family and everyone else (except work) this coming week.  So exciting!

The Bubble Destroyer

Mocha loves to chase after bubbles, and she goes into "Hungry Hungry Hippo" mode.  It's so funny!  Here's a video clip of her going crazy with the bubbles today:

Garage Makeover

Posted on July 15, 2007 20:07 by Sharla
Our garage was in a serious need of some organization.  We've only had a couple of shelving units since we've moved in, and things had just gotten out of hand with tons of paint cans sitting all over the floor, old Christmas decorations, and various tools thrown about everywhere.... not to mention both of our cars which stay parked in the garage!

We spent the entire day Saturday cleaning, planning, drilling, hanging, and reorganizing everything in the garage, and especially throwing out or getting rid of a bunch of things we didn't need (like the 20 paint cans!).

The garage looks SO much better now!  And I think the way we organized everything will make it easier to keep it that way for a long time.  I love everything being in order!!

Here are some pictures of the new setup:

9 Weeks

This was a great week!  We had our first ultrasound, which showed Baby Teeny looking very healthy and growing right on track AND my nausea and fatigue has subsided for the most part!

Here's the 9 week belly pic:

Teeny's First Pictures

We had our first ultrasound yesterday!  Baby Teeny measured dead on for 9 weeks, and we also heard a very healthy heartbeat at 176 beats per minute.

It did give us a laugh though, because it looked like the baby was dancing on the screen - the arms kept moving around.  It was very cute!

So now it's almost time to "come out" to family and friends!!

Here are some of the pictures:

Cravings....

As I write this, Josh is gone out on his first "cravings" errand - picking up some Vlasic pickles for me at the grocery store.  I'm out because I ate the whole jar last week!!  And I was realllllllyyyyy wanting some tonight.....

Baby Teeny tried to make an appearance at Alan and Stephanie's wedding - even beneath the waist-slimming undies!

The Newest Mr. & Mrs. Collins

Congratulations to Alan & Stephanie!!

They were married on Friday, July 6th in Blowing Rock, NC at a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Broyhill Park.

The wedding preparations began on Thursday morning with Stephanie, Lynn, Sylvie, Rae, and me getting manicures and pedicures at Day's Nail Salon in Gastonia.

After that, Stephanie and I headed up to Blowing Rock to take care of a few last minute items and get checked into the Homestead Inn where many of the group would be staying throughout the next couple of days.

We got up early Friday morning to start getting ready and headed off to put up the wedding signs at the park, and then it was off to the hair salon at Westglow Spa for Stephanie to get her bridal updo.  Here's some pictures:

Then it was just time for us to all finish getting ready and head over to the park for the wedding.  Joel did the photography, so I was able to hang out with Amy for a bit, since she traveled in for the wedding also.  Here are some pictures from the wedding:

After the wedding, we all headed over to Pssghetti's restaurant for lunch.  The food was great, and the portions were huge!  Alan and Stephanie were seated at the front of the private room and signed the marriage certificate, cut the cake, and had a champagne toast.

After the lunch, some of us headed back to the hotels to change into casual clothes and then all headed up to the Linville Caverns for a true mountainous excursion.

Later, the bride and groom headed off by themselves, and Josh and I rode back to Blowing Rock with Lynn and David, where we had dinner at Mellow Mushroom and then some famous ice cream at Kilwin's - the fudgie brownie flavor is to-die-for-yummy!

The next morning, the group met back up again for breakfast at Dan'l Boone Inn, where they serve everything family style and it's all-you-can-eat.  It was very yummy!

It was a packed wedding weekend, but lots of fun with family and friends!!!
