11 Weeks

What a week!  I started back at work on Monday; it was really sad to be away each day, but luckily, I have a great job with a good bit of flexibility, so I am adjusting my hours to leave around 4:00 each day, which really helps with the commute (since I get out before rush hour) and I get a lot more time with Jackson in the evenings.  Also, my (awesome!) manager is allowing me to work from home a bit more (unless things get busier or I am needed in the office more), so in addition to my "remote Fridays" I'll probably add a few more days each week.  Josh isn't working right now (he's close to making a decision on his next role), so he's taking care of Jackson until he starts his new job, and Jackson's Grammy (Lynn) will take over at that point.  So even though it was hard to go back to work, it was definitely the right decision for me and our family, and I'm sad to leave Jackson, but glad to be back in the mix at work.  And it's not too bad considering the flexibility I have with hours and telecommuting!

....now for the reallly bad news from this week.  Jackson reverted back to some really old sleeping habits, as in newborn-waking-up-way-too-many-times habits.  He had a couple of bad nights, and we wrote it off to the possibility of developmental growth or maybe an upset stomach.  After the third (and rather heinous) night of getting up / down multiple times to console him back to sleep, we realized it wasn't a good sign.  It doesn't appear to be related to anything we can help --- we tried gas drops in case it was poot pains (even though he had no signs), we tried leaving his arms swaddle-free (that was the aforementioned "heinous" night).....nothing helped.  He's too young for teething pain (and doesn't have any other signs nonetheless), isn't annoyed at his diaper, and isn't hungry (he goes all night without eating).  The other night I thought, "maybe it could be acid reflux," even though he doesn't show consistent signs of it, but to test it out, we elevated his crib with bed risers on one side, so he's not sleeping flat.  He did better the last couple of nights (as in less than 12 awakenings), but is still crying out more than before -- he had been at 0-1 awakenings for several weeks prior!  Eeehhhhh.....it's just too coincidental that it happened the same week I went back to work, so I've resolved to the notion that he's lashing out at me for being a working mom.  :)  Any tips from the BTDTs?

Jackson has now discovered his hands.  The title of this video clip -- "Introduction:  Jackson, Hand; Hand, Jackson":

Yeah, that's what she said.
