24 Weeks

Highlights from last week:

Fitting in Raleigh
We traveled to Raleigh to visit our friend Hannah at the children’s clothing company she works for so Jackson could get fitted for the upcoming photo shoot for the catalog.  The trip was alright, but he didn’t go to sleep easily in the hotel room (we shall name it, for historical purposes, the great Battle of Courtyard Raleigh North).  I was suffering from some nasty allergies, so there were some challenges.  Luckily Josh traveled with us, and he was a huge help!

It was neat seeing the clothing company (thanks for the tour Hannah!), and we even snagged an outlet sale deal.  After our visit there, we had lunch with Robbie, one of my Raleigh friends.  It was good to see him and catch up, since it had been such a long time (it just kind of sucked that I was almost completely hoarse from the Almighty Allergy Attack of 2008).

Jackson & Hannah at the most colorful workplace I’ve ever been to! (…where are all the conference rooms and cubicles???)

New Veggies
Jackson ate Squash this past week – and he loved it.  As usual.  The only things he’s turned his nose up at thus far have been:  apple-prune juice, Axid reflux medication, and cherry Milk of Magnesia.

Jumperoo
We recently switched out the entertainers and brought the jumperoo downstairs for Jackson to play in / with.  He LOVES it.  He jumps all over the place, but he’s such a “mover,” it makes total sense that he’s going to love something that bounces him all around.  Here’s a short video of him jumping & laughing at Mocha (mostly he’s laughing in the video, but he busts a few “moves”…I still haven’t captured a shot of him reallllyyyy getting into his bouncing, though):

Visit with the girls
Jackson had a visit with his favorite girls on Saturday.  Lynn brought Sydney, Abbey, & Amelia over to hang out for a bit, and he was lavished with attention.  Here are some pics:

Almost forgot….
Jackson actually had two dr appts last week.  Made one with the pediatrician because he had a mild fever for a week, and just wanted to rule out any infection or anything.  Clean bill of health there, and they said it was probably teething (where is that darn tooth??).

Then we went to the pediatric GI dr on Wed to discuss his GI issues in more depth and get a second opinion.  The dr didn’t really have any further insight, and said he seems fine (since he’s gaining weight, etc).  So for now we’re keeping him on the reflux meds and Alimentum.  We go back in a month, and at that point, we’ll try taking him off the hypoallergenic formula to see if he’s grown out of the allergy yet.

Mean time, we might have figured out something to help with the evening fussiness.  We started a nap / quiet time for 30 min in the late afternoon, and it seems to be helping.  Even though all the baby books I have say 2 naps a day at this point is all he needs (and not to go down after 2:00), I think he must just need more sleep than average.  He was already sleeping 12 hrs at night and about 2-3 hrs during day naps.  But my guess is since he’s always so wired, maybe he needs some extra calm time, so we’re adding some down time (even if it’s just laying in his crib being kinda fussy) at 4:00/4:30.  He still gets fussy later, but not nearly as much with his extra nap.  So we’ll see how it goes…

Other Pics:

Sitting up on the hotel bed (the morning after the aforementioned Battle of Courtyard Raleigh North)

This one’s actually from a couple of weeks ago, but I just pulled it off my phone.  He had his first ride in the front of the cart at Target!  He seemed to really enjoy the new view…especially when we passed the wall of TVs in electronics…he was mesmerized, and I think it was quite possibly his first “love at first sight” experience.  He was not a happy baby when I wheeled him away…
