Cold
We've been lucky as far as illnesses, with Jackson. He's only had a couple of minor colds in all of his 7 months. Well, he started with another one last week, and it's definitely the worst he's had so far (and even still, it's not too bad). But he's pretty congested, and has a bit of a cough; and he's going on about 6 days now. We're trying to help with the symptoms by using saline drops in his nose (which results in huge battles....although last night, I think he might be getting better with them, because he didn't fight and thrash as much), baby chest rub (I'm not sure this actually helps, but it can't hurt!), and a humidifier while sleeping....oh, and we've also had to resort to Vaseline under the nose because all the snot and rubbing is starting to irritate his skin. Oh, the joys of baby illnesses! At the onset of the symptoms, we decided to reschedule our photo shoot scheduled for last weekend; so hopefully he will be all better and rash-free on Sunday!
Vision Appointment
Jackson had his first vision appointment last week, thanks to the InfantSee program. Since our eye doctor participates in the program, we were able to take Jackson in for his check up there...and for free! They checked his visual responses to certain patterns (with one-eye-covered-glasses....he looked so kooky!), watched his eye movements, and even dilated his eyes and used some super-scientific equipment to actually measure his vision and determine his eyesight strength / prescription! He's currently farsighted, which is normal, and good, considering that Josh and I are both nearsighted. They didn't detect any issues or concerns, so he won't need to go back for another check up until around 3 years old.

Laughing, talking, & raspberries.... some of the words he's starting to say sound like "hi," "dada," "baba"(bottle?) and "mama" .... or we could be hearing what we want to hear :)

Outside ... Jackson sat nicely on the blanket out front while Josh and I tackled some yard work!
Coming up this week --- Jackson turns 8 months old! And we have our photo shoot scheduled for Sunday....if the cold doesn't get it canceled again!
